Please find listed below information and several documents that we hope will answer many of your questions about registration, deadlines, advising and graduation. They were developed to guide you as you make your way through the program. Of course, if you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to contact us.
Your official advisor is the individual listed on the advisors web page for your area of specialization. Please contact your advisor directly for guidance on coursework for the upcoming term. If you are ever in doubt concerning a course you plan to take, always seek your advisor’s approval before registering for the course.
All graduate students at the University of Maryland are now required to register for classes each semester (fall and spring), unless they first request a Petition for Waiver of Continuous Registration. This policy does not apply to summer or winter terms.
If you plan to graduate during the current semester, please notify us as soon as possible, to ensure that all paperwork is processed in a timely fashion. In addition, you must submit the online Graduation Candidate Application.
